Only 500m from town centre yet surrounded by farm land. Easy access toall Golden Bay's attractions. Continually improving services. HOTshowers.
Takaka is a small, mainly farmer's town with a growing visitor appeal, getting a fair number of summer visitors. It's well positioned for trips out to the Golden Bay, and is close to Te Waikoropupu Springs. A short drive from Pohara to the east, and the bay leading to the north up toward Collingwood and Abel Tasman National Park. It is also becoming quite a bohemian destination, with a number of crustie occupants and a small cinema that shows independent and hand picked movies.
Takaka Caravan Motel Park is a small site positioned a few minutes stroll from Takaka's main street. It's family run, and has a small number of permanent caravans separate from an area for temporary visitors and tenters. The site has fields on 3 sides and a lovely view across to the mountains. The site has two facilities areas, with modern toilet / shower pods, well equipped kitchens (pots and pans included), and a pretty outdoor dining / BBQ area. The showers are excellent, once you get used to the counterintuitive tap design, and the facilities are modern and clean.
It's a pleasant, very quiet site, and with the subtle, unobtrusive lighting, is a good spot for stargazing. It would make a reasonable base for day trips around the Bay, and the short walk to the shops is handy. Overall it's a gem of a place for those looking for a quiet, peaceful place.
