I was there and remember that Katie - Mike
23rd Dec, 2011

I`d never stay here again. It was over new years and people who were quietly having drinks, of all ages were being told told be quiet by the manager. He was intrusive and even kicked some people out and the circumstances were`nt reasonable. The manager was such a pain in the ass he would come around and not just tell you each night to keep the noise down (three over 25 year old adults playing cards, sober!) but also that it was lights out-i`m not joking. Aside from this the facilities were average at best and off par with what should be expected from a `top 10` park. I am actually put off top ten altogether because of this stay, and everyone I spoke to in the camp ground felt the same way, both from overseas tourists to N.Z tourists.

Nice, friendly place, short walk to town and wharf. Safe and clean. Great base for all Bay activities. Went for a lovely sail on the yacht Freewind which was fantastic. Recommended

Horrendous Holiday - Katie
5th Jan, 2010

I am part of a group of 3 families, including 6 pre-schoolers, who were kicked out of this campsite 1 night before New Years Eve, with 3 days remaining of holiday, because 4 of us adults sat talking quietly and playing cards under the awning of our tent past 10.30pm (quiet-time).
Owner of campsite threatened to hook our tents up to his motorbike and drag us out (children included) if we said one word after 10.30 again.
Asked another lady to leave because baby cried in the night.
Also said his campsite was child-centered but when discussions became heated he revealed that the camp was set up for the older family.
Campers beware, the man running this campsite is an unreasonable, intimidating and contradictory man but if you think you can put up with someone like that (and you have older children) the facilities are pretty good, the setting is lovely and it\'s walking distance to a beautiful beach.

Beautiful site - Phil & Lou
11th Mar, 2008

We camped here in our tent ($32 for 2).
This is a very well maintained campsite (most pleasing of all the Top10 sites we visited). However there was no TV room or internet.
It`s a nice quiet site, and very much worth a visit.
