2.40 star rating (5 reviews)

Situated in the Raglan Harbour adjacent to the Raglan township, which has 7day shopping. Access is by road or by a picturesque walkbridge. We are a family camp with 300 power and tent sites plus accommodation.

We are a Mecca for surfers with the world famous left hand break at Manu Bay. A favourite too for deep sea anglers chasing marlin and for harbour fishing.

Take a bush walk or climb Mt Karioi. Harbour cruises, fishing charters, good restaurants and an 18hole golf course are close by. Come kick back and relax on the West Coast with our friendly staff.

Frustrated camper - Sazzy22
18th Mar, 2010

The service at this camp is shocking. My booking was screwed up twice even though I had phoned once and emailed twice to confirm. They didn`t bother to reply to my emails and when you try and call you get a friggin answer machine. Once I got hold of Mary she couldn`t work out who was who and who was staying at her camp for the night. Very unprofessional and extremely unorganised. June or Joan has the most frustrating phone manner and leaves you feeling very uneasy about whether your booking has been entered into the system or not? I will NEVER go back to this camp again!!!!!!

Great location - mixed experience - Kara
11th Feb, 2010

Well positioned place; drawback is the volume of people on and around the place, some not on their best behaviour, unfortunately.
do understand the night driving restriction (it`s not as though you couldn`t walk in at night, and the town is well within walking distance), and comment the owners for it. Cleanliness was less than spotless, probably also owned to the high turnover. We liked the location, being out of town, yet right in the middle of it after a short and pleasant stroll. On that account we might be back.

Dont Bother - Unhappy camper
4th Feb, 2009

Who on earth resides at this camping ground with the current owners in charge? These people OBVIOUSLY don`t have kids OR just absolutely HATE kids OR have had bad experiences from their own kids being appalling, awful, dreadful, ghastly, horrendous, horrible `ankle biters`. WHO KNOWS?? WHO CARES!! Hmmm, why don`t you take away the hand towels (like your 20-million signs threaten) and provide hand dryers? Your overpriced nightly rate can afford to compensate for this. So what happens if you want to use the kitchen after 10:30pm, during the hours of late night snacking, making your 1-year old a bottle or cleaning up OTHER PEOPLES mess so you can make your 1-year old a bottle? Does a wannabe G.I Jane march` into the kitchen holding her AK47 forcing you to chow down your packet of 2-minute noodles before she blows your brains out?? Thats right, SHE PRETTY MUCH DID! OMG we paid $10.00 each for a gate card which locked us out after 11pm! Where am I? At the Raglan Kopua Military Park? Are you owners ex-navy G.I Joe marines? Who the heck locks their campers out after 11pm if they PAID to stay at your holiday park? Actually you can`t be ex-military because your kitchen would be `spot-less`. Hold on, maybe you are ex-military, I would utterly understand if you were DISCHARGED for your discourteous, disrespectful, ill-bred, ill-mannered, impolite, uncivil, ungracious, unmannerly, unpolished attitude toward your fellow campers! I remember the arrival brochure advertising something like, `Let us know if you have a complaint, let others know if you enjoyed your stay`-WHAT A JOKE!! I will let others know ALL MY COMPLAINTS and I will NEVER return to your camping ground unless someone holds a gun to my head!!
VERY UNHAPPY CAMPER.

Busy, Busy, Busy - Retreat
27th Jan, 2009

We obviously never saw it at it`s best on an extremely busy weekend. Far too crammed in and pitching our tent on an unexpectedly sandy site right behind the dunes was a nightmare, but no chance to move. Tent full of sand, blown in through the fly and mesh windows, just awful. Ask for a quieter site away from the main gateways to the beach, or you will be disturbed by constant streams of people day and night passing by to the beach (or in our experience drunkenly trying to climb the locked gates). Mens bathrooms were awash with water and not cleaned often enough for the sheer volumes of people there.

Chilled out, awesome surf - Don
2nd Dec, 2008

This is a great place to check out if you like surfing, and the wide beach is a great place to hang out if you prefer the sand. The town has a nice relaxed atmosphere and the camp site is well positioned. Highly recommended!
