Happy Camping Review

Set a two minute stroll from the busy resort town of Queenstown, the Creeksyde holiday park is an attractive, busy site. With everything from wireless internet to car wash facilities, a spa, and ski storage, the site ticks all the boxes. It's also a very environmentally aware site, with great emphasis on recycling.

The site is divided up into sections, each with easy access to modern, clean facilities. As the areas are festooned with a variety of oddball decorative touches, including old toilets and water tanks, it can be a little disorientating at first. However, the staff on hand were able to point me the right direction when needed. The facilities include individual toilet/shower rooms, and large spotless kitchens with utensils (pots and pans are for hire). The kitchens also have seating / dining areas with TV and internet kiosks.

There is a lot to do in the Queenstown area. A walk down Shotover Street is a good way to see some of the many adventure and adrenaline-pumping activities on offer, most of which include transport from the booking office in town. If you don't feel like jumping off bridges or careening down rivers in overpowered boats, there are also a variety of wine tours, and excellent walks. The park and botanic gardens by the lake are well worth seeing on a sunny day, and even offer a funky frisbee golf course. Queenstown offers all types of restaurants and bars, among the best of which is the Queenstown Irish bar of Pog Mahone's (if you like Guiness, don't miss their excellent pints).

The Creeksyde Top 10 is a decent, popular site, with a good atmosphere and is decent value. It is a little cramped when busy, and if space is an issue you may prefer the Lakeview Holiday Park. However, the Creeksyde does have some nice sheltered tent sites.

Very nice campsite - jazzyp

A lovely campsite, we spent two nights here. The facilities were clean and we even used the spa bath (extra cost though). The only problem with the showers were that you couldn`t close the windows above them and it was cold and draughty. The Mediterranean market across the road is a good place for your morning coffee, or to pick up some supplies. Staff were very helpful.

Nice quirky place but there was a small bathroom which seemed old and shabby. Staff were very helpful.

Well located site - Skry
25th Mar, 2008

Although my wife and I were in a tent not a camper, this place was dearer than other tent places at about $35/night, so expect to pay more for campers too.
You won`t be disappointed by this site though, with Queenstown`s gondola lift up the hill located practically behind the site. This makes the stunning mountain your backdrop and most of the town a short walk away.
The facilities were good and well laid out. The site didn`t have any signs up about no drinking in the TV room so we took advantage of that, as did other people. It was nice to be able to relax at the end of the day with a beer by the telly.
There`s a lot to do in this town to keep you away from the TV though, and the information desk at the site has a wide selection of maps and pamphlets. They were able to give us a lot of great advice about getting to Fiordland and Milford Sound, even going so far as to recommend then book a bus and boat tour for us.
Despite the extra cost of the site, my wife and I were very impressed by what we got and I`d be willing to pay extra if all sites were this well located, staffed and executed.
