Happy Camping Review

Picton is a place many people pass through having arrived on the Interislander ferry, but the small town is worth visiting for a day or two, if you can spare the time. Being close to Queen Charlotte Sound, and having local attractions such as the Edwin Fox ship, local walks and kayak trips, there is quite a bit to do in the area. Picton can also be a good base for exploring the wine region around Blenheim.

The town is looking forward to further investment in its waterfront area, but is already a very pleasant place to lunch or have coffee and watch the ships arrive and leave. There are several bars, high quality cafes, a small shopping centre, and a pleasant atmosphere throughout.

Formerly the Blue Anchor Holiday Park, Picton Top 10 Holiday Park is a reasonably sized site located within walking distance of Picton's main street. A Qualmark 5 star site, it offers a good choice of cabins, self contained units and powered sites. The sites are near lots of mature trees and offer a choice of sunny or shaded sites.

The site has several amenities blocks, with modern and spotlessly clean facilities. The toilets and showers are of excellent quality, though the showers have a 7 minute timer. The main kitchen is well appointed with the usual cooking facilities and fridge / freezer. Internet access is available through several kiosks as well as a very reliable and good value wireless system. The site is also well catered to kids, with a trampoline, adventure playground, heated swimming pool (except winter) and BBQ area. There is a reasonable TV room, and bikes can be hired.

The prices are very reasonable for such a high quality site, being comparable with most Top 10 sites, and offer good value for money. Overall the site is extremely well run and highly recommended for visitors looking to explore Picton.

Friendly little corner - Judi

I have stayed in this campsite a several times over the last 10 years and have always found it welcoming, clean and well resourced. Each time I have stayed in different accomodation - power site, cabin and the last time was in one of the their self catering units (with a lovely verandah and view).
op 10 sites are always a little more expensive but always worth the little extra money and this is no exception. There may be cheaper and just as nice sites around but as a lone woman traveller it is very nice to have the comfort of knowing that a site is always of a certain standard
