Opononi Beach Holiday Park

We have stayed the last 2 years. Both years we have had the water off from the 2nd Jan (for one reason or another!!). Once you say oh well, what a neusence, twice you say, you must be kidding!! With no obvious attempt to fix the problem or apologies it was goodbye from us and down the road we went. We were told there would be policing on the noise after 10pm but this didn`t happen. We know about New Years and the concerts - not a problem there, but expect all other nights to be sorted out. We didn`t meet a happy camper in all the 7 nights we stayed. Too much help for the young one nighters and no interest in the families who stay for several nights. Business suicide as far as we could make out. An absolute gem of a place, please someone offer them an amount they would accept and make a Top 10 camp ground out of it - perfect.

Have stayed here 2 times before and found the owners rude and extremely unpleasant to deal with.
his has completely put me of ever going back and would reccomend anywhere but here!

I have been coming to Opononi Campsite since I was five, I am now eleven, and I enjoy the campsite just as much as I enjoy partying with my friends and family! it`s a lovely spot out in the country, and to anyone who is looking for a place to stay, Opononi campground is perfect! Harry and Jenny are a delight to talk to, and also- My Favourite thing about this camp- is that it has goats! Goats are my favourite animal and they are extremely friendly- apart from one of them!

very year there are new baby goats around- very cute! don`t worry, the older goats are tethered! and the reason i think there are goats- is because they eat the grass- so Harry doesn`t have to mow the lawns!! I recommend you to come to this wonderful peaceful place- apart from the blasting music from the hotel on new years AND I also forgot to add that in! there are concerts around and on new years at the hotel and pub- just down the road. So please try to get down here- it`s the best!

I stayed here for 1-2 years!!!!! !997/98 A very lovely and magical place. The area is steeped in history, with an unforgetable Maori past. A spiritual place.Harry and Jenny were much younger then. I see someone has mentioned Harry in a bad light. Once you get to know him he is actually most likeable and will do anything for someone that shows him respect. I remember both of them with much fondness

On a winter trip Auckland to the Kauri Coast and back we stayed a nights at Opononi. Great place, very clean (just undertaken a repaint and fit out of shower blocks), and very friendly people. Thanks to Harry and Jenny for making our family feel welcome.
