Hanmer Springs is a popular spa resort, a few hours drive north of Christchurch, and famous for its thermal pools. With a beautiful mountain setting and a wealth of things to do, it is a popular destination for both Kiwis and visitors. Hanmer Springs is a base for walks, tours and golfing in summer, and is a good base for skiing in winter.

Hanmer Springs Top 10 Holiday Park is located within 5 minutes walking distance of Hanmer's shops and attractions. The site is easy to find when arriving from the south, and the site offers pleasant views of the mountains. It's one of the more expensive sites, reflecting Hanmer's status as a resort destination. Check in advance for pricing information.

The site has a good number of powered and unpowered sites, as well as many attractive log-walled cabins / lodges. These are fully furnished and modern, and the sites facilities are modern and well cleaned throughout the site. The toilet and shower facilities are spacious and have excellent free showers. The kitchens are big, clean, and modern also. The park has good wireless internet, and a pleasant internet / TV room. There is also a good kids play area, with trampoline and playground stuff.

The onsite staff are very friendly and helpful, and are quick to recommend good places to visit or activities to try out. This is a decent, if expensive, site, and a very pleasant place to stay if visiting Hanmer Springs.

The location is great. 5 minutes from town centre. The service is excellent.
But watch out for Albi the cleaner he`s a nutter!

We spent the second last night of our two week campervan trip around the South Island at the Mountain View Top 10 Holiday Park.
Its location is one the big plus factors but need to say that the bathroom, shower, kitchen facilities we quite basic and fairly disappointing. Hot water showers seem to be hard to get.
Request a tarred site as many of the sites can be quite muddy.
Frankly, parks like this make camper van holidays expensive. When paying $54 for a site, one expects the basics to
e available. Its cheaper to pick up a rental car and book a motel.

The location is great. Ten minutes from town centre. The service is excellent. The only negative is the prices for internet access. We have been to Top 10 Holiday Parks all over the country and this has to be the most ridiculous prices. But that aside, it`s a great stay.

Unfortunately on my trip to Hanmer Springs my wife and I were involved in a jet boat accident, cutting short our holiday. We only got a short while to see around the camp site but it was moderately priced and not too far on foot from the town centre.
The facilities are the norm (showers & toilets, TV room, kitchen, etc) and all looked well kept, if a little old. There was a good mix of areas for camper vans, tents and cabins which all seemed to be able to fit in well.
When I told the site owner that I had been in a jet boat accident and had to head to Christchurch hospital for X-Rays and an MRI scan, she was horrified at the story and was more than happy to refund my money for the extra night I had pre-paid for but could not take. I didn`t even have to argue for my money - she was very sympathetic and understanding.
I would be happy to stay here again.
