Matauri Bay Holiday Park

y wife and I were going to stay one night as we were going to the top of NZ in the morning in our camper van
e ended up staying ten days and our hosts brian and maggie were the reason why
he site is fantastic and clean and if you want to go off shore to the islands brians power boat can take you (at a small price
o there and you will be blown away by the beautiful scenary that will unford before you

I stayed a night in a caravan at this site and was charged $80 plus $40 for two extra people The caravan was filthy and was way over priced The web site says caravans are $55 a night and xtra people $14.50.I think that on the 1st of march with the camp empty this was a rip off.I stayed in a beautiful 3 bedroom house in Tokerau with all amenities including ensuite, spa bath ,dishwasher washing machine and drier for $150 a night.I would not recommend this place to my overseas visitors coming for the rugby world cu
lso I witnessed an Austrian couple bieng charged $40 for the night to park thei camper van You are too expensive even Paihia is cheaper

I dont have a bad word to say on this place. From the staff to the facilities to the location... everything is so well run.
spent 4 days there with friends in Jan 09 and the whole time i kept repeating "this place is SO well run " and it is. The owners were so friendly and ready to help any time. The facilities were working well and the place ran like clockwork, they had security walking around to make sure everyone was happy and had everything they needed, as well as safe, and every morning a police officer would come around and make sure everyone was happy campers.
he beach was incredible, we barely left it. so child friendly, and if you have a boat, they will come and collect your boat from where you are camping, take it to the water for you using their tractor and collect you when you are done on the water. They do refills for oxygen tanks, they have a mini gas station to fill your car, the shop on site has supermarket prices and all facilities were absolutely clean, all the time. I could go on and on. I rang them immediately after getting home to try and book a spot so my whole family could go up. There are people that go up for more than four weeks every year for years and years, you just cant get enough of it. To the staff of matauri holiday park "THANKYOU SO MUCH` for the best time ever. Will be holidaying there every year from here on in. wonderful place. GUSH OVER!!
