Gobsmacked - Donna

This place would be really great if it had owners who knew about hospitality. On arriving we were given two tent site options and no mention was made about the campsite in the beautiful bay around the corner which only had one occupant. After our first night in the main camp site where we had to move our car to avoid smashed windows from cricket players and people partied late disturbing the rest of the campers, we enquired and moved to the next bay which at the time was no problem at the office. Even other campers who made the walk around the bay asked us if the camp site was part of the main camp as they had not been given the option of this lovely bay and you could tell they were not impressed either as it was pretty much empty and the other side was full
n our third night we were virtually accused by what appeared to be two fish wives, fags in gobs to boot of being at the site unauthorised and that we were putting another couple out as they had that site booked and they had to put them up in a cabin for the night and they were not happy blah blah blah - how is that our problem?? Upon seeing that we were in fact in their book and they had entered us in incorrectly there was no apology and we were made to feel worse by them asking rudely when we were going to leave so the other couple could move in. When I protested about their treatment of us and that we were paying customers and deserved the common decency that a customer expects I was retorted with if I think this is stressful then I can`t handle very much. I said it is not about being stressed but their handling of the situation was extremely bad form, let alone good business
here is no need to treat anyone the way we were treated. If you run a business like this you need to be mindful of the long term plan. Even if someone had pitched a tent without being in the book as I expect at this camp site it might be easy to do as it does not look to be part of the main camp site then they could be approached nicely and the situation explained and options given as at the end of the day they are all potential customers
had thought the swarms of stinging flying ants at this place were bad enough but compared to the owners...

nice spot - pity bout the owners - henri
3rd Feb, 2012

Stayed three days - first night in main campground - second and third night in "tucks bay" - paid per day - tucks bay was empty it was "just us two" - third night owners arrived in a huff, all attitude and unbelievably aggressive and extremely rude, in a golf cart, fags dangling from mouths - ready to do battle - apparently we were in somebody`s spot who had booked for 5 days, we weren`t told that when paying each day and specifically pointing out where we were staying ( the site was otherwise completely empty!!) - but according to Gail we should have known that the wrong site had been written in "The Book", and besides we had parked our car in the next camp slot ( like said the bay was empty of other campers) - there was no polite apology, it was our fault, how dare we be stressed about it , owners demanded to know what time we were leaving the next day ( no inquiry weather we wanted to stay longer) - because they were "out of pocket" - we were treated unnecessarily rudely - they stormed of with a very sarcastic "enjoy your night", we were made out to be in the wrong - it gave a very bitter taste to an otherwise beautiful spot - "hosting" is unfortunately not their forte and a course in civility leaving the obnoxious attitude at home and client focus may come in handy - what a letdown, reading other reviews we are obviously not the first ones to get this atrocious treatment.

what do these other complainers expect at a camping ground? Its camping people - if you want absolute luxury facilities -go to a five star hotel! We have been camping at long bay for 22years and will be camping there for another 22 years or more. we love this place.
he girls are great and we have never had any issues. These other moaning campers need to get over themselves and enjoy the spot for what it is- GREAT

We spent 8 days just after xmas and another 3days last week, We told a friend we were going and they told us to look at reviews,Well we had the most fabulous time, Friendly people in camp and found the two girls very friendly and helpful, Hey guys this is a camping ground not a 5 star hotel, all the facilities were clean and tidy ,most people have there own cooking arrangments,We are both in our 70`s and its wonderful to be able to camp like we did when kids,We wanted to go fishing and this was arranged at the shop with no fuss, a wonderful day with Saprano`s with the same wonderful help we had from Motor camp, We have both worked with lots of people and you can not please every one in fact there is no pleasing some

I agree with Jock - Sam
22nd Jan, 2012

As a family we have camped there my whole life and my parents camped there as kids also Jock summed it up well unfortunately the camp has fallen apart in the last 8 years.maybethat is due to the council not paying enough attention or more what I imagine management is just slack if the camp was well maintained the price would be fine, but the price does not match the facilitie
think Gail and her wife enjoy living at the beach and put more work into there lifestyle them running the camp.
