Golden sand beaches, bush walks with breathtaking views, boat tripsinto the Abel Tasman National Park and safe bathing and boating in ascenic atmosphere make this area an outstanding place to stay. TheCamping Ground is located right on the beachfront in the heart of theattractions. Qualmark 4 Star Holiday Park.
Kaiteriteri is a small resort town, 15km north of Motueka and near the Abel Tasman National Park. Its golden beach and quiet bay makes it an attractive destination for boating, sea kayaking, and chilling out on the beach. As such it is a popular destination during the Kiwi holidays.
It's a decent embarkation point for Abel Tasman trips, with a range of boat trips from $20 upwards, and offers some unique activities such as paddling a replica Maori canoe.
The Kaiteriteri Motor Camp is positioned right across the road from the beach, and the line of powered sites on that edge of the site have wonderful views across the bay. Even though it is positioned right beside the road, the traffic is minimal, and the presence of speed bumps just up the road ensure that there is very little disturbance.
The site is large, with 4 or so rows of powered sites nearest the road, along with many cabins at various price points. There are two large ablution blocks, complete with large, solid, modern kitchens and toilets/showers. The site has just undergone an extension, adding more state-of-the-art cabins that could be worth checking out when they are finished. The site has an average internet computer in the office, but if you're in the right spot you may be able to connect to the Internet Kiosk wireless from the hostel next door.
Kaiteriteri Motor Camp is the main place for camping in the Kaiteriteri area, and so can be very popular during the summer. It is worth booking in advance (you can do so from this site using the "Online Enquiries" link above) to ensure a place or a cabin. All in all, Kaiteriteri is a pleasant place to visit and can be a good base for lots of water-based and Abel Tasman activities. With a decent small shop, a couple of restaurants and some minigolf style activities, it's a pretty good destination.
